Building on the Legacy
Since 1942, the mission of Welch College has been to educate leaders to serve Christ, His Church, and His world through biblical thought and life. That mission started the first day the college opened its doors to eight students on Richland Avenue in Nashville.
Today, Welch College enrolls more than 340 students annually from 25 states and several foreign countries. Students enjoy a distinctly Christian education with a strong core of biblical and theological studies at the heart of every educational program.
The need for Christian leaders is greater now than ever. Welch College is committed to preparing such leaders by guiding students toward spiritual and intellectual maturity, and by giving them a practical understanding that makes them effective Christian witnesses anywhere, anytime.
This commitment demands that we honor and embrace the foundational principles of our past as we face the challenges and opportunities of the future–always striving to continue Building on the Legacy!
The lack of proper facilities and space for the college’s educational program and associated activities has become a major obstacle. Many of the older campus buildings have served the college well for more than 50 years, but an expanding curriculum has created a shortage of space for educational programs and related activities. This has become a matter of great concern.

The New Campus
The first phase of the new 66-acre campus in Gallatin, Tennessee, will provide a technologically up-to-date atmosphere in which to live and study, campus-wide Internet access, residence halls with generous living quarters for students, a library to house more than 70,000 volumes with room and plans to expand, spacious classrooms and laboratories, a modern dining hall, student center, athletic center, and more.
The new campus will provide for increased enrollment, meet the needs of the physically challenged, and provide space for student recreation and athletic activities–all important elements for a complete campus experience.
The new campus will have the look and feel of a traditional college campus, with two- and three-story red-brick buildings accented by white columns and other classical architectural details. This historic ambience will provide a beautiful setting in which students can learn, live, and grow into the Christian leaders of tomorrow.

The Building on the Legacy Campaign
It is estimated that it will cost $20 million-plus to complete the construction and relocation of the campus and retire the debt on the land. In addition to approximately $12.5 million in net proceeds from the sale of the West End campus, the project will require that a total of $7.5 million be raised.
The capital campaign to raise these funds for campus construction is entitled Building on the Legacy. In a silent phase of the Building on the Legacy campaign, the college has raised $2.1 million in pledges ($1.6 million of which has already been received). We need to raise an additional $5.4 million dollars in cash and gifts-in-kind ($3.4 million in five-year pledges and $2 million in gifts-in-kind of materials, labor, fixtures, etc.).
With excitement about the future, a shared vision, a strong commitment, and a deliberate plan, the leadership of Welch College encourages you to participate in this campaign and rejoice together as we continue Building on the Legacy!

It was exciting to walk out on the new campus after grading had been done on the site to reveal where each building will be located. I walked the campus and prayed a prayer of thanks to God for bringing us to this point, and I prayed for His providential guidance of the entire construction and transition process.Read More
